Yeah don't do what my father in law did. Went in the attic with a 12ga shotgun and shot a rat that was in the wall near the floor below. Killed the rat but also blew a big hole in the bedroom wall. Also if you don't collect the carcass u got a smelly house for a few weeks.

we have rats on the property, I use poison, they all eat it, sometimes my dog has a poisoned rat in his mouth but he leaves them at the door like a darn cat, he doesn't eat them and he's never gotten ill
