What if there were some way to mount a dirt bike manual clutch (just clutch no gearbox) to your engine then relocate the steering wheel supports and add a third pedal.....

That would be awesome! you could be driving and you could just randomly rev it or rev it sitting still without spinning the tires...


Oh yeah, and off topic, this question has been asked a lot, and I have heard lots of different answers. How many rpms can you rev a BOX STOCK (no governor) 5hp briggs safely without throwing a rod or blowing it up?

and finally, I heard that 3hp coils are more powerful than 5hp coils. Is this true? Its kind of counter-intuitive

First off, the coil myth is untrue, and you are correct about it being counter-intuitive. About the box-stock Briggs q: the answer is until it blows. There is no "pre-set" bursting rpm, though I have been told 4500 rpm is where it gets dicey with the stock oil slinger. As for the clutch idea; I started thinking about it and I think that it's an awesome idea. Anyone else have any input on potential problems?

the task of mounting the bike clutch and making it work might prove more effort than it is worth. just buy the bike engine and run it then you get gears + clutch.

Kind of like what you did? I'd love to see some vids when you're done....it does look kinda inspiring so far. :devil2:

yea exactly, i didnt even look anywhere but moto engines though so i got gears + clutch. the size difference between say the B&S and a 125cc engine are not incredible.

i will get videos as soon as i can :D
