I got a stuck nut.

So I need to take off the drive pulley off of my manco dingo build but the nut holding it on is seized. I currently don't have WD-40 so I have no clue what to do. please don't make fun of me 'cause i dont know the correct terms.

WD40 isn't up for the task anyways (that is if you don't talk about WD40 specialist penetrant)
penetrating oil surely helps.. so get some (doesn't matter which brand really..)

Since you talk about a nut, I assume you talk about the driven pulley..
(the driver is held on by a bolt)

if the nut is still stuck with penetrating oil (and a decent amount of soaking time [~1day])
make sure the chain is installed and the kart rolled against a wall (so it can't move forward)
Put a wrench on the nut and hit it with a mallet (or use an impact wrench if you have one)

You can always use the parking brake instead of putting it against the wall.

Put a long wrench on it and use a sledgehammer to "impact" it off.

I was in the same position as you...trust me you just need a really long wrench and it will come off.

I really don't recommend using a sledgehammer. A heavy framing or ball pein hammer, a dead blow, maybe even a 3# blacksmith or mini sledge... But not a sledgehammer.

You're better off soaking it in penetrating oil and trying to work it loose. Back and forth, repeatedly. Don't just reef on it. If you get a little movement and then it stops, keep working it back and forth. Don't just force it.

Is this the DRIVE (on the engine, secured with a bolt) or DRIVEN (on the jackshaft, secured with a nut) pulley?

If it's the Drive pulley, jamming the chain, parking it against a wall, or setting the (probably non-existent) parking brake won't help. For that, you need to stop the crankshaft from rotating.

Whoops..I forgot to mention it wasn't a sledge...just a 4lb minisledge. I just tend to refer to it as a sledgehammer.

It's the DRIVEN pulley. I will have WD-40 Special Penetration later today.

My dingo has a long shaft on the driven pulley. There is a nut on both sides. If one came off the shaft should slide out the bearings in the other direction.

But from the sounds of your troubles it might be stuck good.

Penetrating oil, let soak long time, then big levers.

Thank you. I too have a long-shaft dingo.

The driven pulley is farther out than the drive pulley, making the belt crooked. There are 2 washers between the pulley and the sprocket. Do you suggest taking those washers off? If i did, it seems as if it would solve my belt alignment.
