Does anyone else have this itch that I feel I need to scratch? Maybe it's just the daredevil in me or my general sadness of selling my 2 motorcycles roughly a year ago but I really really want to find a small dune buggy and put a 600cc R6 motor on it. Granted I'm not near qualified to build something like that yet but I know I would have a BLAST trail driving it. In my head it doesn't seem all that hard being familiar with motorcycles you think a little fabrication and you could bolt the engine and trans up and keep the stock sprocket. Trim up some of the not needed wires like turn signals etc. Though I'd probably keep the TOS. Then mount a rear sprocket to achieve a doable gear ratio. Transfer over the coolant system and a Lil more fabrication and you'd have one heck of a beast...seems fairly easily doable, but idk maybe I'm just crazy...anyone else? Idk maybe it's the beer talking..

You know something small like this.

My neighbor has a good running 80hp snowmobile he does not use, that I could get cheap, that is staring at me every time I look out my backyard....:iagree:

I've done it twice. Needed a jackshaft to get gear ratio acceptable to move buggy since it was heavier than the bike and the sprocket compatibility was limited. Hooking up a good shift handle that works consistently was also challenging then the whole thing was really squirrelly having all the weight in the back and didn't steer well. Went dangerously fast but was too hard to drive anywhere besides in the open. I sold it a while ago.

Currently prepping for a test run on this buggy, which is custom made with full independent suspension and fox 2.0 nitrogen shocks with a 47hp fuji built 440 twin sled engine.

What can you tell me about the drive train?
I have no experience with sleds or ATVs. Is it fully Automatic CVT?
Do you know what gear range it provides?
How about the teeth on the sprockets?
Do you have a build thread on this?

Yes it is a CVT automatic

The CVT is 3:1 at first engagement and 1:1 when fully shifted. The gear ratio from the secondary to the axles is 9.27:1 and has 25 inch tires. Calculated top speed is about 64mph, but I believe there will be some losses limiting the number, but do expect to see 50+ mph.

The sprockets are as follows CVT driven sprocket is 11 teeth, jackshaft input is 34 teeth and output is 12 teeth and the axle sprocket is 36 teeth.

Picture of sprockets to show what it looks like.

There is no build thread for this.

This kart was built long before I was able to mess with it. Believed to be a 2004 baja series build. I think it competed in the 2004 and 2005 races. I just did some modification work on it with some other guys.

Rode it yesterday. Needs some carb adjustments and the brakes need bled.
