Hydro Disk, Man disk, or Man Drum?

So something I've never really researched is the pros and cons and weight ratings of Hydro Disk, Manual disk, then Friction drum brake setups. I know that for convenience the Drum is the easiest to install and performance wise the Hydro is the best. But which is best for lets say a Manco Magnum or YD 3203 w/ a Briggs 22hp?

If you have a big engine, go for strong brakes..... Hydraulic.
With that said...... Get what you can afford and drive accordingly.

So many people modify engines & neglect the brakes, whether it be a go kart or a car, etc; if it goes better than factory it needs to be able to stop better than factory...

With an engine of that size, hydro all the way...

Well with a manco scorpion w/a 13hp Cumseh on it pushing along a 4:3 ratio at 50mph... I'd say it's goes a -bit- better. But 112lbs of steel and the Weight of me and the kids that's quite a lot to slow down. Major question is who makes the best setup?

How long is a piece of string? Which is better, Ford, GM or Chrysler?

In short, it comes down to what you prefer...

My personal advice is find a rear brake setup from a medium sized sports motorbike & make it fit..

Pretty simple.....just scroll up to just above the blue bar....where you see folders....DIY GOKART Forum....building plans and advice.....ect...

Click on DIY. It will bring up all the different sections. Just click on the most appropriate one...(like introduce yourself) ....and a box will appear near the top of the page..."New thread"....click and go....(Don't forget the title.)
