Hybrid Kart

Hello all, right now my kart has a stage 2(go power sports) predator and a juggernaut 30 series torque converter running to a 48tooth sprocket on a live axle. I've been thinking about getting a 2 to 3000W motor and making it hybrid, but I'm stumped as to how I would couple both the predator and the motor to the axle. One idea I had was to somehow link the electric motor to the driven pulley of the cvt, but would that shred the belt when the engine isn't running(electric-only mode). A lot of builds I see online just put a second sprocket on the axle for the electric motor, but I feel that isn't ideal. Any thoughts? Pictures for reference.

Note: If you are wondering why it has an LSV plate it's because Illinois is SUPER strict about go-kart usage on roads so I had to make it legal with insurance and everything.

Low Speed Vehicle. It's normally reserved for golf karts and side by sides, but I was able to get the plate for the go-kart, it restricts me to roads with 35mph speed limit or less and I can cross big intersections. Also, wouldn't the engine and the electric motor fight eachother when full load is applied to both?

Not if geared the same. Or you could machine and install an overrunning clutch in the secondary clutch. If you could find one that small and strong enough.

Awesome that you got the LSV certification done. Looked into it here in Florida, too little reward for the great effort and the cost.

You would also have to consider the rpm match between both electric and gas motor

Why do you want to make it hybrid?

1 because I want to mess around with an electric build and 2 I want to beef up the power curve. I'm running a taller ratio because I'm after a healthy top speed, so I thought making it hybrid would give me a good low end and high end.
