ive received a new axle, wheels and a 5 hp briggs motor setup to add to my go kart.
currently my go kart is set up with a 2hp GE series wound DC motor currently runs 24-48 volt and has space for 4 batteries. this setup works great and has been receiving random drunken use for ages and i use it like a lawn tractor to tow stuff around with a small trailer. it uses a taylor dunn controller/throttle and has foreword and reverse.

as you can see here is with the solar panels removed and the new axle and wheels bolted up, the briggs 5hp is right behind the kart. new wheels are bad ***! i can wait to electrocute myself trying to go muding with this thing!!!! and adding gasoline to the mix sounds like such a good idea!

from my measurements i think i can move the electric motor to the left, and install the briggs motor on the right with 2 sprockets on the axle in the center, one for each motor. and the smaller size of the electric motor on the left should have no problem fitting the large brake rotor and caliper assembly.
sooooo after i get this work done ill have a 2 motor go kart, how im going to rig up throttles i have no clue, i think running two separate throttles is what im stuck with at the moment. an i think im into a situation of using either the gas or electric motor and removing teh belt from teh gas one when not in use and maybe the chain from the electric one too because i dont want to put unnessary wear on the motor.
id kind of like the briggs to power a set of alternators to charge the batteries if i want to. it sounds like a very logical thing to try an attempt, if i could just slip the belt off the clutch and put it on another pulley to move alternators. this way i can charge up the batteries to drive at night away from chargers. and i can get it home if the batteries get to low. how i can pull this off i have no idea....
ill be back to update this... i just finished updating the steering and adding alot of ground clearance by rebuilding the whole front end.
