Forgive all of my newbie questions guys, but if I wanted to go with a larger wheel and tire combination on a Manco go kart, what would my options be? In particular, if I end up with a go kart that has a hex axle. My only thought was cut up the stock rim, keep the hex, weld on a new flat plate of metal, and then drill a out a hole pattern on a milling machine, as well as true it all up in a lathe to make sure it concentric. Thoughts? I'm mostly asking because I wouldn't mind running a slightly larger tire, but there aren't too many options out there for a stock 8" rim. Or am I just not looking in the right place. Seems I can't find anything taller than an 18" tire for an 8" rim. Making or having a hub would also allow me to run some cooler rims. Polished aluminum maybe?

you are definitely making this harder for yourself. there are plenty of largertires that fit 8" rims.

e.g.
22x11-8 tire, but wait, theres more! in the 20" varieties too! :wai:

if his kart came with 18x9.5-8 tires, what widest tire that would fit? an 11 would fit it? he and i are in same situation.
