That big nut (that you removed) actually holds the hub, onto the axle. ;)

If it doesn't slide off easily (that way)
...maybe try removing the (3) nuts & bolts, that are holding the rim, to the hub. :cheers2:

* Also, don't forget to put the big nut, back on :thumbsup:

I'm wondering if removing the rim from the hub (3 nuts) will expose a setscrew on that piece of keystock. If it's there, the hub ain't coming off until the setscrew is loose.

it is highly unlikely that there is a set screw, never seen one there, just tap it evenly from the backside with a 2x4 spread across the entire rim.
May want penetrating oil on both sides of the axle to help skip

Never with the professional tools I made a living with, but I've driven several things along a shaft with a garbage crescent wrench closed up around the shaft's diameter when a proper piece of wood wouldn't get me in there to smack it. Got the idea from a "fork" that auto mechanics use, on suspension parts if I'm recalling correctly, but they're solid steel and not adjustable. The 2 jaws at least gave a little help in spreading the force so as not to drive it at a binding angle. Just not with a $40 Craftsman crescent.

What sometimes works is running the axle nut up close to the wheel but not tight. Fire up the kart, hop in it, then move it SLOWLY forward a little while turning the steering wheel back and forth. See if the wheel "pops" loose then. Works with stuck rims on cars and trucks. Once the wheel pops loose, jack up the kart & remove the nut and the wheel.
