My name is Joe, and I live on the southside of Chicago. I don't currently have a kart, but I've been looking for a (cheap) vintage one for quite awhile. I'm also developing a karting event, but we can talk about that once you get to know me. I don't want to be a spammer.

I've built and/or owned several old cars including my current projects, a custom 1959 Chevy, a 1965 Ford Econoline, and a 1963 Corvair Monza 900.

I organized the Hunnert Car Pileup and Hunnert Car Heads Up Vintage Drags for 10 years before leaving to form a new club.

So, if anyone knows of a cheap, old kart within a few hours of Chicago, please let me know!

Have you tried craigslist to try and find a kart?

I've been checking CL for awhile now, but not many old karts. Atleast none that are cheap! My friend just found a 60s Rupp At a garage sale with 3 mccullogh motors CHEAP and immediately flipped it for 3x+ what he paid,then that guy turned around and listed it for even higher! Capitalism! I may just get a newer one and modify it to appear older... Or just build my own. I just prefer the round tube over square tube designs and I don't have a tubing bender.

Here's the '59 and the Econo. I lowered the '59, shaved some trim, added some, my wife did the upholstery, and I laid out the scallops while a friend laid down the candy & flake. It has a 350/350 powerplant.

The Econoline came with a 170ci inline 6 and a puny 7" rear end. I installed a Lincoln 302/5.0L HO v8 and a 9' POSI rear and built the exhaust system. I'm currently tackling the massive amounts of rust and dealing with damage caused by drag racing.

That shaft looked like twisted taffy! Rust! That's extreme damage imo. I agree about theround bar as well over square tube, considering a harbor freight bender, but I am also new to the kart scene and wanted to build one, but must say, nice ride pics. Thanks for the postings to see. I shall start soon (crossing fingers). Best of buildto ya.
