How to tell what gear atc 200x is in

Ok so my Honda atc 200x is in some gear but not sure which how do I figure out what gear it in so I can get it to first? Also how many gears does the Honda atc 200x have?

In most cases where the shift pattern or number of gears is unknown, one would toe down (counterclockwise on the shift shaft) multiple times until it doesn't feel like it's shifting anymore. On most setups, this is first, but in some cases will be neutral. Turn the output sprocket. If it will turn freely, it's neutral. If it engages the engine, it's first.

Please note that some trannies don't like to shift the whole range with nothing turning. Roll the output sprocket back and forth a few times while shifting to make sure it's going all the way.

Shift pattern is one down four up or sit on it rock atc back and forth trying to shift shifter down (yes counter clockwise) bottom is first a little up is neutral a (half shift) then four more all up

If there is any play in the linkage then neutral will be difficult to get

Where the shifter shaft goes into the engine look at the case. A Honda will clearly show you the shift pattern and the number of gears. If it doesn't have a chain on it work the front sprocket back n forth in your having trouble. If it has a chain rock it as suggested above.
