How to secure break & sprocket to axle?

I have a kart that locks the break and sprocket to the axle using small rectangular "keys". But there is nothing to secure them in place and they can move on their "track" on the axle. If they slide out I lose my engine or my breaks.

I saw someone mention using locktite to basically glue them in place but I'm worried that this will prevent me from ever removing them to make mods, fixes, etc.

Any thoughts on a non-permanent way to secure these keys?

Thanks.

those "keys" can be held in place by many things. Loctite could work, wouldn't wanna try it though. I would actually put shaft collars around the sprocket and disc or you can lengthen the keys out to where they stick out about an inch on each side, take metal strapping around the axle and key(like a hose clamp) and tighten it and that should keep it tight.

Loctite wont permanently attach it. I dont know how that would work... it would atleast be temporary.

Use some of these here things. They should work great.
You can use the loctite on the bolt, that would be good.

Exactly what I did, using a stainless hose clamp.

To secure the keys and stop them sliding blue loctite should be good, and for stopping the sprocket sliding side to side lock collars are best.

Alright, got a few hose clamps last night. I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

I use plastic zip ties on the keys for my race karts... some people put a couple rounds of black electric tape on them. hose clamps would also work or the locking collars...

:iagree: That's what I did. I didn't use any keyways, only grub screws, & small drill dents in the axle just big enough for the grub screw to locate.

I would probably still use keyways though. The stresses from braking and the engine power can easily rip the grub screws loos and rotate the brake without any keyways
