That's a good idea but the whole shaft needs to be covered. The thin film of grease is a rust preventative. If you have areas of the shaft that aren't coated with anti-seize it will rust together anyway.
Porboy, you are correct. I should have posted. a small dab over the entire shaft. Anymore than a dab, it will all be pushed to the end of the shaft next to the sump cover therefore not doing what is was intended to do. Another thing that will work is, Slip Plate a dry graphite lubricate. The only trouble with Slip Plate it is highly toxic and must be sprayed in an open area with plenty of air movement.
