how to remove clutch

Ok so I got the new predator engine! I got it all put on just need to hook up throttle cable and clutch. What I wanna know is how do I remove old clutch from old engine? I have the front part of the clutch of but I cant get the back part off? Heres pics of the new motor and the clutch I have.

gat some pb blaster and shot some of that on there thin get a wrench if you dont have a gear puller and put it between the engine block and clutch plate and give it a good whack it not to hard you don't wont it to bend the clutch plate.

ok thanks ill give it a try in morning, i may have a gear puller but i beleive its to small.

You can go to autozone and "rent" a gear/hub puller for like $80. When you return it, you get refunded the full amount that you "rented:" it for. Pretty neat.

I tried the puller, soaking it and banging on it and won't budge! Any ideas?

silly question but if there are set screws on the clutch did you back them out?

only thing i got is to get some toilet bowl cleaner. it works for me when i cant get somthing off thats rusted on.

You said it budged. Don't be afraid to go back with it. Spray some PB Blaster on both sides and work it off and on directions and you'll gain a little bit each time.

Ditto on what Poboy posted. Also did you clean the shaft that clutch rides on, after removing the front half of that clutch?

Try a bit of heat. Just heat gently the hub area where it is on the shaft. Keep the torch moving, don't stop it. See if that helps.
Clean the shaft before you try to move it.

Whew!! I got it off! Ride the kart with new motor and it's great. I kept it slow since manual says to not put a full load on it for 3 hours.

Ok, so just with ALOT of banging, pb blaster, clutch puller, and finally it budged more And more till it was off. I had to smoot out a few rough spots on it with the dremil.

So, obviously, whoever put it together didn't know to put a thin smear of grease on the shaft & the bore of the clutch before fitting the clutch would prevent this happening; was there lots of rust buildup on the engine shaft?

no rust just really tight.? Not sure how it could be so tight
