I have a problem with my throttle. When I mash it, the pedal will hit the tie rod and it's real bad when trying to make a left turn. At that point I may be able to hit 1/4 throttle with the pedal hitting the tierod end. I have a bicycle brake cable routed thru a 1/4 automotive brake line and then attached to the carb with a cable stop holding the cable onto the throttle linkage of the carb. If I mash it real hard, the metal brake line will come forward or sometimes the cable stop will come off of the carb and I lose all throttle. This is really irritating. Are there any pictures floating around of a cheap reliable throttle linkage set-up? Thanks

i have a throttle cable i made myself..i just bought sheathing that looks identical, and ran wire through it, hooked it up to the gas pedal using a actual throttle piece..its at the hardware stores. it smashes down over the cable in three places, and has a hole on the end of it to hook up to your gas pedal. then where it goes to the carb, i just have the exact same thing hooked up to the carb throttle. i guess youd have to see it, look around your hardware store they have everything

or go online and order one, they make kits

We had a similar forum on this. Check http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4788

One person suggested a better way of doing it. Not sure what it is though. I personally have a very similar setup on my kart to what you described.

Sounds like the pedal is the problem though, right? You might just need to move the pedal. Could you takes some pictures?

ok ill try to explain what i do better..

on the carb you got a throttle obviously, you pull it, the motor goes faster..etc.
drill yourself a 1/8 inch hole in the end of it..the far end..i dont have a picture or else id show it..get yourself a tinyy wire stop that fits through the hole, hook your throttle up to it..put your throttle cable into the wire stop that fits through the hole. hook your actual throttle cable to the hole thats in the side of the carb with a washer over it. to pinch the throttle cable in place. its proabably very hrad to understand ill take a picture tomorrow

Instead of using a throttle stop on my kids' new clone, I simply used a ring terminal (Blue fit just right) that I soldered onto the throttle cable. It works smooth. An afternoon of running and it hasn't budged.

Dry fit it first so you can pull as much cable through the ring terminal as needed and then cut off most of the excess. Also, remove the blue plastic piece as it is not needed in non-electrical applications and is only in the way.

If you need to take it apart or adjust it, simply heat it back up.
