I probably have nothing more then 200 bucks to spend.
Looking at engines, i weigh around 280 (mostly bones not fat >.< ) im 6'3 so what HP would be able to pull my giant self without a problem?
where can i find go kart frames? i know craigslist but where else?
also it will be for street not dirt.

Try to find a older kart in need of some TLC. I got my kart for $125.

I weigh about 230lbs, and a Briggs and Stratton 3.5hp hauled my lead butt around surprisingly well. A 5hp might be good to start with...

The other more knowledgeable guys on here will be able to help you out lots.

For $200 max, I wouldn't even get a clone. I would go to a scrapper/junk yard/ garage sale and try to fond a horizontal shaft motor I need of some TLC. Then try to pick up a frame either from a scrapper or CL. Scavenging for parts will be the only way to do this and it wont be quick unless you look hard and are very resourceful. Piecing together a kart is an art in a sense, heck, some people have tried no-budget builds for the challenge. $200 can be done, but it won't be simple bolt together a shiny new looking kart without some effort. It can be done, through perserverence. TS4wd made a kids kart for $200.

Motor = Find a guy with tons of junk in his yard (usually an old guy) and ask or garbage pick. 5hp is good.

Clutch = Max Torque clutch with chain, $40

Tires = 4.10-3.50-4 dolly tire $6 , $24 total

Steel = Garbage picking

Anything else = $ 50

Grand total = $114

if you are going to use these tires then what you will have to do is for the rear wheels only drill a hole through the axle and hub and put a bolt through it, otherwise there will be no place to attach your sprocket on the hub. Attach your sprocket to your live axle.
