I would like to bring my kart to a track. What do i have to do? Do i need to be a member of a club? I dont want to be in a race, not just yet at least. I just want to be able to use a track. What does it usually require?

Many kart tracks have designated practice days and times. Sometimes you dont have to join the club to practice. It usualy just requires your kart passing inspection, having all required safety gear (approved helmet, neck brace, gloves, etcetera) and paying their practice day fee.

What track is near you? Maybe they have a web site with practice day info.

Here's their web site: http://www.ovrp.com/ovrp/pages/home.asp

I didnt see a whole lot of practice info on the site but it looks like they just have practice sessions before scheduled races. I'd call them and see if meyby they have some practice days without races you could come out for your first time. Hopefully this would give you a little more seat time to get used to everything with out so many other karts out on the track.

I see they offer Driving classes so dont be surprised if they really try to get you to take-em. Taking one of their class would probably really help you out but it looked like they're kinda expensive. (and it says classes are not mandatory)

I see they have Sprint/Enduro paved road courses and also a 1/5th mile dirt oval. Which type of race kart do you have? (got a pic?)

i have a yard kart, just something for fun. I am planning on getting a race kart, or maybe one i could use on the oval, so i guess a dirt race kart. That will happen in the next few months. Id like to build as much of it as possible

I hate to be a downer here but I dont think they'd allow a yard kart on any of they're tracks, even just to practice. I've got a full on race kart and everyone totally freaked out at my towns big pro track when I wanted to run my kart at a dirt oval practice session without having a dirt oval type body on it... My local sprint kart track required a tech inspection and me instaling side pods to just practice there.

I hate places with a bunch of rules, I finally found a small outlaw dirt oval track at some dudes house here with like 20 other guys with all kinds of homemade karts and others like mine.
