I have a brand new 212 predator hemi with intake, exhaust, jet, breather filter, and new 12 tooth clutch and rear sprocket is 72 tooth with 11.5"x4" tires

It gets up and goes really well but hits top speed really quick if i took off the top governor springs and rod will this bypass the governor all together and make my kart faster?

Also my clutch keeps moving i put lock tight on the set screws to make it stay in but it still moves back and forth

There should be a bolt in the end of the Crank to hold the clutch on.

Do not remove the Governor Springs and linkages! They control a PLASTIC Gov. Gear that is internal to the engine. It MUST also be fully removed.
This gear will fly apart inside the engine, causing BIG problems.

Here is a how to:

Doing this will make your kart faster.
Also with 11" tires you could run a 60 tooth axle gear.

is the inside of the crank where the bolt is going to threaded?

idk what you mean by od but the rim is 7" and the tire is 11.5" in diameter

Yes the crank hole is threaded. You need an American 5/16 fine thread (24tpi) bolt about 3/4" or 1" long.

When you get it tight, The engine will want to turn when you push the wrench. At this point I take a Rubberized Hammer handle and smack the Wrench. The sudden impact will overcome the engine wanting to turn and tighten the bolt.
Opposite effect to remove the bolt later on.

If i were to change gear ratios what would be ideal for my set up should i get a 48 tooth or a 60 tooth 25 is alright but if i could go 30 thatd be better

Bubbles- Yes that's correct, OD=outside diameter...
I ask as sometime the rim/tire size as listed isn't helpful to determine the ideal ratio...but the OD is needed.
You'll want to stick with the 6:1 you have as on 12t clutch, 72t rear axle... Going to a 60-60's tooth might be able, but might compromise the clutch...

With a governor, 12/72 (6:1 ratio) and 14 inch wheels my fun kart hit 29mph, which was plenty fast for off road.
With my race kart right now I hit about 49mph with 6800rpm No governor with a different 4 stroke (modded to) 10hp engine, but a 5:1 ratio and 11 inch tires.

If this isn't a heavy kart then 5:1 works pretty well. so a 60Tooth sprocket in the back but keep an extra clutch around! Also HP makes a difference in acceleration...

And bypassing the governor in a predator is a redneck idiotic mistake. just sayin
