How to extend key way ?

I need to extend a keyway on my axle a few inches is there an easy way to do this at home? I was thinking of doing it by hand on my drill press with a dremel endmill , it's 1/4". How do I do this withought a milling vise.

you may can do it with a grinder but you will have to be very careful but i don't think it can be done

I just did this on Saturday. I extended 2 axles about 4 inches and have another one left to do. Luckily, i was able to join 2 keyways together so it was easy to keep the lines straight. I did most of the cutting with a 4.5" angle grinder with a cut off wheel and then did the clean up with a NEW grinding disk which measures just about 1/4". Like was said, you have to be very careful as you can get out of shape quick. Just take your time and do a little at a time. Make sure you have a key in hand and consistently check size and depth.
