How to determine Inboard or Outboard driven pulley for Torque Converter?

I recently purchased a Murray Explorer frame and I have a very smooth running Honda Gx270 I plan to mount on the chassis . I purchased the chassis with no engine and it looks to have had a 20 series torque converter on it. I am planning to purchase a 40 series from Go Power Sports but I’m having a hard time finding a definitive answer on whether I need an inboard or outboard mount driven pulley on the jackshaft.
I THINK this is outboard because it’s facing away from the engine? I’m very new to go karts,
Here is the set up I have (pictured)
Can anyone point me in the right direction on what I should be purchasing and what exactly the difference in the inboard and outboard mount is ?

The GoKart Supply website has a great tutorial on the 40 series CVTs. By design the spring should face inboard on the driven while the driver goes on normally. The CVTs on Amazon are much cheaper and work just as good. Do not ever use cheap belts, it’s false economy. Use only Genuine Comet Belts! They outlast the cheap ones by about 10-1.

Because of that style of engine mount (attached jackshaft) You really only need the common 40 series driven and Driver (no back plate). Thing is that a 20 series and a 40 series BOTH use a symmetrical belt \_/ and I see an asymmetrical driven \_| on your kart which AFAIK specific to the 30 series ONLY.

What ever driven you use, you need the fixed sheave facing the engine so you're not eating belts up with alignment issues or causing them to jump off constantly.

Thanks for the response. I think I didn’t word my post very well , I am trying to order a whole new set up, and I under stand the difference in the belt and pulley angel difference in the asymmetrical and symmetrical belts etc … but I’m trying to order a new torque converter and it makes you specify Inboard mount or outboard mount driven pulley , and I’m confused on the terminology I guess . But I’m trying to figure out the difference as I have an opportunity to start off with whatever I need

I'll tell you what I've been told, and what countless others have been told usually by @Denny Use the forum search function. Odds are you question has been answered 50 times over already, and if it hasn't nobody will bust your chops for asking

Either way I think your jackshaft is going to be too short. But from looking at your pictures I think you’re going to have some fabrication and welding in your future either way. Not much though. Go with a 7” driven and face it inboard. I think it may line up better and save a small amount of work.

Murray used both Comet and Max-Torque for their karts. Does your kart have the rack and pinion steering which they used on their rider lawn mowers? How about a picture of that unit? The Honda 270 is a 1" crank so you will have quite a lot of hole drilling in the motor mount plate.
