How to beat this game

I got one... you know those high powered lasers people use to light matches? Burn through the string 
If it's any help... inside the crane machines that you see everywhere there's a box that the arcade or wherever it is sets... one knob will usually control the grip strength on a 'good' game. The other knob sets how often there will be a 'good' game... like once every 10 games, once every 20, etc, the claw will grab with the set strength, rather than with no strength like is normal.
The thing is, I've never seen one with any degree of randomness... If it's set to 1 in 10 it'll be on the 10th game every time. Sit there with a notepad and pen and mark down the wins/losses to figure out how often it happens, and jump in there when a 'good' game is coming up.
I would imagine that that game would have two ways to win it... a system like that, or it would just require you to chew through the string with a buttload of quarters, but I can't really see what's going on in there.

If you look, on the game he won the jaw thingies went backwards a bit while still closed, and that's what cut it. It seems like when you were doing it they opened before moving backwards. That's where it's rigged I bet.
