How to attach Sprocket?

I am building a Chopper and am running into a little bit of an issue. I am trying to use a front wheel off of an 80s Kawasaki 3 wheeler with drum brake as a wide rear wheel. It is 10x9" I believe. I need to add a sprocket to the left side so I can actually use it. Any ideas? Weld on sprocket hub?

Pics would certainly help. Now I'm not certain about this, but I would imagine that a front wheel would have bearings in the hub, meaning that you couldn't put a sprocket on it because the sprocket wouldn't actually drive the wheel. Maybe you could get a new hub for it, but one way or another it can't have bearings in it.

I think he wants to attach the sprocket to the rim, kinda like a minibike. I think your biggest issue is going to be keeping everything straight. Does your rim have lug nuts? If so I would take out the lugs and use longer bolts and nuts to hold the rim to the hub, and then make spacers out to your sprocket. The spacers would have to be fairly heavy to keep the bolts from twisting over time from the sprocket pulling, but I think it could be done. If it's a one piece rim and hub than do your best with welding on spacers inside of the rim and hook up that sprocket. What do you have to loose?

why use the front rim? if you take a rear rim (you can install a hub with drumbrake and a sprocket and be set?

the front wheel is indeed difficult, very litle room to work with, especially when it's the one I have in mind (the drumbrake fills nearly all of the rim dish..?)

And why the left side?
put the sprocket on the right (the side that's not already populated by the brake drum) and flip it around.. it's still a front wheel so it shouldn't care and the sprocket would then end up on the left side of the bike too...
you just moved the drum out of the way.

then mount that rim to an axle, rig up a pen holder and draw a circle by spinning the wheel (pen mounted to the same rig as the axle).
Just make sure to pick a good diameter for that circle (one that you can get sprockets for and one that does NOT touch the brake drum side wall!)
it's okay to drill into the brake drum as long as there's enough space inside for your bolt heads so that there's no interference with the brake shoes (check that first!)

drill four holes to install some bolts, a spacer (four tubes to slip over the bolts and four plates to align and fix the tubes welded together) to move the sprocket out and you're done

Still.. IMHO the rear rim is a much better choice!

Sorry haven't had a chance to grab pics yet. I only have a front rim. The drum sits on the left side so I could switch the sprocket to the right side to make install easier. I am trying to run something that is gonna sit nice and wide. If I could find a warrior rear wheel for cheap enough I could run that.... Didn't think of that until now lol.
