How rare is this kart?

my guess is home made, and that it was used in parades.

looks like a vertical shaft engine, and a RAGB or a 3 speed gearbox. it could have been made from a small ride on lawnmower like a cadet (70's 80's)

I seen this older cars before. I do not think they are home made. I could be wrong though. The coke looks added on though.

The wheels and steering wheels are the same as the others I see. Could be a kit as well.

It looks a lot like the older Shriner cars - the Tin Lizzies, that they used to ride in parades. Generally, they had a 3.5 hp Briggs engine and were pretty decent though slow for go kart standards.
I guess, maybe due to my age or the nostalgia of them, I'd love to have one (any chance?).

You did quite the searching there Bighead, everything from the really old ones to the not so old ones. A neighbor had one with the forward and reverse lever on the side. Seems I remember it as fun, but as a kid I wasn't impressed with it - MUCH too slow.
Oh, and nothing like racing around the yard in one, huh?

I was thinking of trying to build one, but I don't think I'm that good. Besides, I've got a "must" project I have to finish.
