How much was your first car?

My first car was (and still is) a 2001 buick century, it is a good car I got it for $1500 one year ago and it is a nice reliable car. I drove it to school daily and I have taken it on a few trips it had about 150,000 miles on it when I got it and i have put about 6000 miles on it. body is in pretty godd shape little rust on the rocker pannels and the gas door was almost rusted off but I replaced that for like $5 with a new door from the scrap yard.

My first car is a jeep Cherokee laredo and i got it running not to many problems for 600 and it was lifte and had big tires on it when we bought it and its nice.

That statement has little basis in my opinions, but more of facts. Ever looked up teen driving statistics? They are more likely to wreck than any other age group.

Not that I am saying Dave is stupid, but just based on how beat the cars of my classmates get just due to them being careless/****ty drivers, wouldn't you rather err on the side of inexpensive?

Part of the problem is, there isnt enough respect for the 3000lb piece of machinery they're driving. "Eh, so what if I wreck it, ill get it fixed or get a new one." seems to be the mentality on too many people out age. Of the people I know who were in a car crash, maybe one was truly an honest mistake. One kid totaled his car because he pulled his E brake and shifted into 1nd while going 35mph; pure stupidity. Another kid was drunk and high and died behind the wheel; he had 2 friends in the car too.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FORD STEPSIDE. Ford calls them stylesides. Just like theres no such thing as a big block or small block ford, just engine series like 335, 385, Windsor V8, etc. Thank you.

ive have worked on ford trucks all my life , specializing in the 73-79 ford trucks.......... yes they are called stepsides . yes there are sbf's and bbf's ive owned several of both . not including ford industrial motors just naming a few of the commons are 260,289,302,and 351w are all SBF. 351c,351m,360FE,390FE, 400m,429,and 460's are all BBF.

the most common motors in ford trucks from 73-79 were the 351m and 400m . the 360 and 390 fe's were common aswell earlier in the series. 302 and 351's weren't very common in the 70's trucks , and the 460 was in some but not too many.

i might not find it in fomoco literature but then again nobody reads fomoco . here in iowa a ford with a stepside box is called a stepside , and theres a bbf and a sbf . try taking the heads off a 302 and put them on a 460 . there might be a little bit of size difference.

Thats because a 302 is a Windsor and a 460 is in the 385 engine family

you can call it uninformed , i know what ford calls it and thats great for them . around here if i go to the body shop wanting a fender for my ford styleside they're going to look at me and walk away .

and i agree with you a 302 is in the sbf family and the 460 is in the 385 family . thus there is a sbf family and a bbf family .

i don't mean to be personal about any of this , your calling it as ford calls it . that doesn't make my statement untrue though.

Im confused

Think HIGHLY DANGEROUS , and something I hope I never have to do again!!! Think a milling machine that weighs approx. 45,000 lbs. and was delivered in sections because it was to bulky to be hauled in one piece. The headstock I spoke of was 14 ft long, with the gearbox section being aprox. 3x3ft square and 6ft of that length. Oh, and we had to come at it at a 45* angle; we only about a 14in bite on the light end. Was I glad when that job was over!!!
