so i got a honda engine i got off of a racing go kart and i fired it up for the first time after i got it from him and it was billowing smoke out the exhaust

if i had to guess i would say it had to do with the rings...i think, i know that could be it in a car engine but im very new to the whole go kart thing

any help would be great by the way im on a very small budget
:cheers2:

well today i started it up again and it was still smoking so i took the head off and it looks like the rings are bad.

Any one know where i can get a new set of rings. i found some but they need to be oversized because the engine was bored out a few times.

Usually rings (and piston) only go to .020 oversize which is 2 bore sizes over stock. After that, a short block is called for. Not cheap.
Better of with new or good used.
lol total cost of my gokart so far $0.00
Can't expect to get a freebie and have nothing wrong with it.
