building my first electric kart. I was hoping to make it an all purpose kart for street and light off road use with a top speed of 10-15mph. I was going to use some of the electric scooter motor kits. I know i will need one 1000w 36v kit. I'm not sure if this will be enough for what i need or if i should add a second one as well??

If it a 36v motor, then get power equal to 36volts, stay away from watts for the time being, its just complicating things. What weigh is the kart/you, got an idea on wheels?

well as far as wheels i was figuring a 12 inch wheel but i'm new to this so i'm open to suggestions. I'm trying to make the kart as light as possible but i would like to have the option of towing another person behind me, hence the need for either more power, proper gearing or both. I'M Thinking i want to make it a three wheel trike actually.

Wont get alot of power from those motors for a kart/3 wheeler. Brushless (coloured to identify them easily) are the way to go, i have seen 3 used on a kart which got serious speed, but there expensive
