How long?

Put into something a wee bit more understandable, I believe the ratings equate to "hours", as applied to the pollution tolerances. As in, "We expect this engine to perform for xhundreds of hours, while still polluting less than the tolerable limit". Seems to correlate to intended use, in terms of homeowner (lightest duty), right up to industrial (constantly in use). As I understand it. Could be wrong.

Sorry for multiple posts. So this means it's how long the engine will last while still under pollution regulations? that means it could last long past that right?

Well the-cyborg had his from 30 some years before he got to the rebuilding point. I think that's really impressive.

Not so impressive really.
I have engines that are 70+ years old that, at the most, have about 200 hours on them.
They should easily run another 300 hours...or maybe another 100 years.
Does this make them long lasting? No. It just means they don't get a lot of run time.
If you buy a clone and never start it....it will last centuries.

Bought my first engine years ago... '59 Briggs 2HP 60102. It'd been repainted, but everything else was original.. (no diaphram!) Most reliable thing ever. Still had factory crosshatches on the bottom of the cylinder (alu. bore)

Did you see the link I posted (as a joke)?!? Those people are hardcore anti-"thrillcraft" activists. How do they get their thrills, you may ask? By submitting hundreds of sheets of bleached paper, printed with non-eco friendly inks, to our government to ban our "thrillcraft". Because they're not aiding deforestation or anything...
