My Simplex has a 212 Predator Hemi with a header and K & N style air filter. It has an Autolite plug.Everything is otherwise stock. It has a 12t clutch and a 60t sprocket. Several questions arise:
1) 90% of the time I am merely flogging this thing around a parking lot. What can I do, if anything, to increase the power without major rebuild work? I don't think I am coming close to the RPM limit for the flywheel and rod on the limited space. How about the RiuXing carb?
2) Is the BSP engine worth it for general fun kart stuff-or am I just spending too much cash? I intend someday to run this thing on a real kart track at a vintage kart meet.
3) Does running on a real race track require a real race engine with all the billet parts for safety-or could I just use the stock 212? What would the other kart dudes say about a stock 212?
Thanks for any input-pro or con.

On these motors to turn them harder than about 6000 rpm's billet rod and flywheel are a necessity because that's the 2 weak points of a 6.5 clone. As far as sanctioned kart races it all depends usually a box stock class is an untouched motor straight from the box no more, whereas any other class would have header open element filter and billet for and flywheel. On your gearing if you are saying you want more low end power to zip around keep the 12 tooth up front and put a 66 or larger on the rear that puts all the power down low
