That is a decent gearing for torque, If you want speed, I would invest ina larger sprocket (tooth size). Keep in mind though that the higher your ratio, the less acceleration you will have. And what is top speed good for if you cant accelerate to it right!

gear ratio: teeth sprocket/teeth clutch...lower number = more torque higher number = more speed

This is a crude estimate. The size of your rear wheels also factor into this. Do you know the size?

Thats a decent kart, but i wouldnt offer him 400 dollars. if it is a complete working kart, I am sure the gearing is fine.

Shutting the engine off with the choke on a regular basis isnt the best tho...

Looks like it has 12" tall rear tires, so Its estimated top speed would be 26mph at 3600 rpm. Or around 36mph at 5000rpm if the governor has been removed.

He posted that ad nearly a month ago... I'd try offering $250.

That looks like a much better deal. for $150, put in a $100 predator motor form HF. maybe another $50 from parts and clean-up and stuff. Wheels alone are worth a bunch.

You might need to do some clean-up on the other parts, but that looks like a steal to me

If you really want it that fast, I would go with a motorcycle engine. See if you can get one, even better, the whole bike. Then you can use the bike parts if you need to.

you can push some serious power and rpm out of these clone motors, good place that ive had a lot of luck with is AGK just remember to swap the flywheel with an aluminum one otherwise after a few tweaks to the motor and no govenor the flywheel literally comes apart at high revolutions, the old racing engine was a clone 200cc that pushed 8,000 rps with a 60 tooth sprocket and 12 tooth clutch we clocked it at 55 is so it all depends on how much rpm you want to push and the sprocket size
