I am refurbishing my comet 30 series and in the kit it has the black buttons.

Mine are worn down causing the clutch to lose tension and jump past them

Problem is I cant figure out how to remove the old ones.

ANy suggestions

pry them off with a flathead screwdriver.
Oh, you have to disassemble the driven first, otherwise the head of the driven unit will hold three buttons in with the help of the spring ;)

that's odd.. it's just a rubber pin in there *shrugs*

Uhm, okay, use a heat gun to carefully heat the buttons to soften them a little, maybe they come off easier when warm;
or cut them off with a knife and punch the pin through??
*shrugs*
Sorry.
