Hi all,
I have a genuine Comet 44C TC and I'm attempting to dissemble it. I have searched the internet but haven't come up with a way to take it apart. Anyone know how these come apart?
I decided to try an experiment and I made a spanner tool about 3 foot long. The tool engages in the holes on the front of the TC. I then placed the TC over a 3/4 keyed shaft mounted in the vice. You need to rotate the clutch cover counter clockwise with the tool.
It appears Comet uses some sort of thread locking compound so it takes a bit of effort.
It should be noted that on the Comet 44C TC, if you rev the engine without a belt, the TC will expand and the pucks will flip, thus making it impossible to close the clutch without disassembling it.
I figured I would upload some pictures in the event someone else runs into this problem.
