Ok, so I got me a 1" axle for the budget kart. Because all of my parts on the previous axle won't fit, I have to buy new parts for the rear axle. (Sprocket, rotor, ect.)

So I have to buy 1" keyed hubs for my rear wheels because I'm not paying $30+ for new rims. The wheels have a 3 bolt pattern.

how do I measure the bolt pattern correctly so I can get the right hubs for my wheels?

Thanks!

Garfield:

(1) Measure across the outside edge of one bolt hole to the outside edge of your wheels centre hub hole, record the distance.

(2) Then measure each of the two holes diameter you have measured across, record the diameters.

(3) Now halve each diameter,

(4) Add these two figures and record the sum

(5) then take this figure off your recored outside distance (1),

(6) then multiply by this figure by 2 and then you have the pitch circle diameter. :rolleyes3:

The guys at the shop will want to know that you have a 3 stud wheel with "x" diameter studs / bolts on a "x"mm or inch Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD).

Alternatively you coud go to a machineshop and ask them to bore out or sleeve your old gear.....could be cheaper....
:idea2:or just take the wheel in when you buy the new hubs.....

 Why didn't you buy a new axle the same size as the old one???

Thanks! The reason why I didn't get an axle the same size as the previous one is because I wanted a 1" axle for increased strength. The previous axle was only 3/4". Oh, and the 1" axle I got was free.
