So bob, you now have some good theory reading, now after you brain is hurting from this, you will need tame that pain with some welding therory.
I actually haven't had any time to do any of the reading, to busy. I definitely do need to learn to weld... and also get a welder.

Two strokes have become highly tuned engines, sensitive to both intake and exhaust. The function of a tuned exhaust is to use resonant sound waves to force some of the intake charge back into the cylinder as the exhaust port is closing, essentially functioning like a turbo or supercharger. A change in exhaust temperature affects performance. A change in exhaust length affects performance. Thickness of metal of pipe affects temp. Pipe material affects temp. Intake length affects exhaust operation. Exhaust length affects intake operation. Like I said, it's a tuned system. And since it's all "theory", it's possible to make a pipe that "should" work and doesn't. It's also possible to stumble onto something that shouldn't, and does. I recommend reading Gordon Jenning's "Two Cycle Tuner's Handbook" (http://www.datafan.com/Horsepower_Blog/gordon-jennings-two-stroke-tuners-handbook/)
Good luck, have fun, be safe. Not neccesarily in that order. :)

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for typing all that without misusing the term "back pressure".

I hope you have better luck than me. I was communicating back and forth for a week, trying to schedule a time for me to drive up to him. So, I'm ready to go (the deal is as good as made, on the phone) and at the end of a day of waiting for this clown to call me back, I get an email, "Sorry Chris- It's sold". Thanks, jackass.

So- after work today, I found myself at a welding supplier. I also found myself dropping over $1000 on a brand new Lincoln Power Mig 180 Dual. That ain't happening ever again! But, OMG, it's gorgeous!

Me neither, frankly- and I WILL be feeling guilty for awhile. But- it's like this: I have had a rather tough year. Physically demanding, with a lot of BS and politics at work. Lots of stress on many different levels (not just work). My income tax return was pretty juicy, I have picked up a week's worth of side work (evenings, good for about $1000 in my pocket), and I'm gonna recoup some cost by selling my "old" welder. I decided to treat myself, knowing darned good and well that this opportunity just will not come a second time. I have been dreaming of a more versatile machine (this one will do up to 1/2"!) And is the last machine I will ever have to buy.

Wow, seems like the planets just lined up for that one. Like you said, hard to have a better situation than what you have right now. I actually just had to file my income tax for the fist time this year and I gotta say its a nice feeling coming home and finding a weeks wages in the mail box.

Do you guys always get something back after filing your tax, or is it only if you have had a lo of medical expenses etc that you have claimed? How does it work over there?

We are getting well off topic...

In short- An amount of income tax is deducted by the employer and submitted to the government every pay period. When we file our annual tax return, we submit various other expenses (including medical stuff) that we can "write off". The expenses we can deduct are compared to the taxes we submitted. If we still gave too much, we get some back. If not enough was deducted, we end up owing the government.

Frankly, I'm a tax dummy- I don't understand much of it, and still learning what I can deduct. Fortunately, my wife is studying to become an accountant. In the last 3 years, I went from only getting a couple hundred back to a few thousand. Yet another reason to keep her around!!! LOL
