I have this go kart but I don’t know how to get this sprocket off and the nut that holding it in place, since it’s a live axle. I haven’t been able to take it off to access the brake drum that needs replacing. Thank you

You need to remove the nut on the end of the axle. You might need a puller after that depending on how rusted it is. If you don't have one, you can usually rent or barrow one from an auto parts store. Looks like the sprocket might be bolted to the hub from the back side. You should also buy a new sprocket. That thing is WORN out. If you put a new chain on it, it will wear the chain out very quickly.

Thanks I’ll be sure to replace the sprocket along side the brake drum, I’ve been trying to remove that nut but I won’t budge. Someone told me to just let it soak in Blaster and then try to apply some heat.

Maybe you need a bigger wrench, or a longer handle on your ratchet. Soaking it certainly can help, but you might have to cut it off.

Have you tried an impact wrench? You know, a "dugga dugga" electric or pneumatic (air tool)? Looks like there's very little rust on the nut and axle threads that would slow down or impede the mighty mighty impact wrench.

Get one!

Honestly, the first thing people should try for frozen nuts is the dugga dugga (not to be confused with the durka durka). For the other frozen nuts, maybe some wool underwear? 😁

To utilize a wrench from the Dark Ages, as seen in post #9, you have to immobilize the axle for maximum torque application or at least make sure the other side has a wheel and tire mounted and to put your weight on it. The dugga dugga is the great equalizer and negates all the former requirements.

Your tool list meme is lacking the aforementioned impact wrench, a glaring defect in my humble opinion, but then again it's a meme (not serious).

🤷🏼‍♂️
