What ever u do stay away from the tecumsehs if u do not know how to work on engines a good used briggs should be cheaper than a clone and easier to get parts for
In my opinion modding a 6.5 that much is a complete waste. When you start putting more than $100 into an engine with such little potential (it would cost quite a bit to get it up to even 15hp), your just wasting your cash. You could most likely find a motorcycle or sled engine for under $500, which is probably less than it would cost to mod the clone to make 15hp. I see old 440 sleds all the time for under 300, which will give you at very least 30hp, a torque converter, a disc brake rotor, and caliper of some sorts, shocks, and plenty of other cool parts.
well i dont think the sell briggs flatyy's anymore except in the classifieds. Most engines are ohv. Just look on craigslist and ebay and your local mower shop should have some. The billet fly wheel would add a bit of power as it is lighter and the crank can turn more due to that. Piston Dont Matter, Get a Billet or Raptor connecting Rod, High Lift Cam Springs and a "45 Degree" Racing valve cut. Jetting only go over to the next size or another, header should add a little bit of power just remeber "ENGINE love lots off back pressure at low rpm's and No pressure at high rpm's" So dont straight pipe it. With all That said it should add about 3 or 4hp and ur rpm's could get up to 6500 with all that
GOOD LUCK
same as ****ty stock mabey even worse cause its all backing up in the 6 inches. just hack that off and then add another 8 inches to it.
LOUDER THE BETTER! lol
