How dark is too dark?

I am just curious as to what darkness of tinted welding glass is sufficent for arc welding. I don't know any measurements or levels of tint for now, so does anyone have any screenshots or examples of the ideal tint?

Not as tinted as TIG but i wouldnt wear contact lenses just in case!!

Sorry. I don't know how tinited TIG is. Can you explain how you'd notice if you have the wrong tint of welding glass? Is it rather obvious?

Depending on how under tinted it is you will probably experience burning/blotchy vision in serious cases temporary blindness. And Pain

You should be able to observe the sun through it.

Shade 10: 75 A to 200 A
Shade 12: 200 A to 400 A
Shade 14: 400 A +

I have a quick change that I normally set to 9, 10 for most welding I am doing, which is light stuff. You should be able to see your weld puddle well.
