Hey, the title says it all, but extra info: I have a broken cog/gear in the starter motor so I am waiting for a replacement from ebay, but its estimated 4 week arrival!

Unless it has a pull start
large socket adaptor and a drill
Rope wrapped around flywheel cup

I just read your other post. Sounds like this is a vertical shaft engine... Not my area of knowledge. Someone who knows about riding mowers could probably guide you with some advice on turning a mower into a faster mower/kart.

:wai: Is this a twin opposed B&S engine? If so any good L&G place should have parts for the starter. Not a good idea to use a socket and a drill motor on that type engine, as there is no starter clutch to free wheel when the engine starts. Could end up breaking your arm. On some engines the cup that the fan shroud screen bolts to have a notch in it for a starter rope.

Im not sure where you bought a starter gear, i got one off ebay for under $15 and got here 4 days later. Its a big pain putting the the clip on the end of the starter shaft if thats what you have. I used some standard socket (1/2"-7/16" ish) and a hammer and tapped the socket to push the clip into place. If its the 1st gen then i beilve its fairly easy to put the pin in.

I think it's a matter of where it's going. He hasn't filled out the profile, so I will guess that he is not in the states, but more like another country.

Which cog/ gear did u break

May be best to not start it

If there's little bits or teeth floating around in the housing then starting it will cause more damage

Also it can sound broken with out there being a problem
Mechanically anyway
