Hover lawnmower, is it the future already

Where did these come from? I don't think the us has these yet.

Flymo ultraglide hover lawnmower! No wheels, it floats. Feels like a futuristic thing that i didn't expect to exist yet.... Am i the only one?

There was a hovering vacuum in the fifties (hover hoover.. )
that thing weighed a ton [really full metal case ~14" globe]...
funny really since it blew all "exhaust air" into the carpet with some serious pressure to gain minimal lift;
a ripped filter embedded all the dust and dirt deep into the carpet, deep enough so that you couldn't ever suck it up with said hoover again.

The one we had (and yes we had it until the 1990s) was ugly beige "Hoover Constellation"

The flymo (we had one a couple of years ago) weighs what feels like half a pound,
thin plastic shell and a tiny little motor, even the blades are plastic.
it feels like having a toy mower just a bit taller

Anyways.. since I was literally a small kid, when I was introduced to said Hoover Constellation,
which at that time was already a vintage item...
Nah... the flymo did not tingle any "futuristic" sensations

So yeah for now, you are the only one.

I havnt gotten it running yet. Did spray some carb cleaner and tried to see if it would fire... Im thinking maybe the wiring is boogered up.

O I C, the base hovers so you dont have to pull it along behind you...

i thought hovering vacuum cleaner. like the hole thing floated not the base. was thinking modern push vacuum style. like this


Still i dont think i've seen these in the US anywhere. But looks like B.M.800 has an older one and hes in the US...so maybe we have them?

nice! looks like oxy/acet mix with an igniter. used to do that all the time in welding class to my classmates. fill up there brick and wait for them to weld....BOOM!

Flymo's have been around forever! They aren't as easy to move from side to side as you may think....especially in longer grass

The blades are still close to the ground, so blowing grass doesn't matter. Its a pain to use though, so i would never buy one

Hover mower is nothing new... It's called a fly mower. Uses a slightly convex polished disc underneath with little short blades attached to the rim. They use em on golf courses for stuff like around bunkers in the fairway where there's no rough surrounding it

No, the future is genetically modified grass that doesnt grow over 3" or whatever tall. Or me saying screw it and moving to Airzona and be like my grandma who's only patch of grass was 150 sq ft and had a $400 pushmower.

What about a little meter thing... with "3in", "2in", "abandoned", "2.5in", "Dont give a rip" you know various settings.

Why not a good autonomous mower that just cuts the lawn for you.

Genetic grass...sounds hempy. Where do i get it?

I say high power laser line grass cutter. Like a sprinkler head. pops up and spins around cutting the grass until it starts burning a line in the fence and house! Just install mirrored edges for the laser to bounce off. Angled down of course.

Imagine it. Alarm sounds and a count down begins. 5..4..3..2..1...ZAP! Lawn done!
