Hall

So wit an 11T Driver and a 60T Driven - what should I change to for my style motor and 500lbs?

THX

Thanks for the additional info

It looks like your Hall wires are "out of alignment"
...this could be (at least part of) your wires gettin' hot issues :ack2:

In one of the videos I posted (last video in post #6)
I showed how the "seller", that I bought my motor from
...instructed me to re-arrange the wires , to reverse the rotation of my motor.

To be specific, this is what I was instructed to do

Phase wires
Blue to Green
Green to Blue
Yellow to Yellow

Hall wires
Red to Red
Black to Black
Blue to Yellow
Green to Green
Yellow to Blue

* Think of it like "the Donkey & a Carrot"
...if you dangle a Carrot in front of a Donkey, he starts moving toward the carrot

In a brushless motor the Hall signals are the Carrot
...& the Phase wires are the Donkey

So, lets say, for instance, a Hall wire is "activated"
...the corresponding Phase moves toward it (& the motor shaft turns)

Then, when that Phase gets close, that Hall wire "shuts off"
...& the next Hall wire activates (causing it's corresponding Phase to move toward it)
...& so on ...& so on...round ...& round

But, "if" the "Carrot" gets dangled too close or too far away from the "Donkey"
...he probably won't act right (or as expected)

It's kind of the same thing, in this situation
...if a Hall signal is "calling" for the wrong Phase, at the wrong time
...things would not/could not function properly

It may still function :cheers2:
...but, not properly

Change gear ratio

If I am 11t and 60t for the nominal 1800w but 1300w continuous - and burning hot - what would u folks suggest I move to??? 11t and 72 or 80? Would that put less stress on the motor and my poor little wires?

Thx
Barry

Hi Finctional et al

Hi

I tried to retire per ur last post but had probs. Motor did not reverse as I needed it to and then the reverse itself didn’t move but made a buzz noise. So went back to my orig wiring as listed earlier. Did buy a clamp meter to test amp level. Will let you all know. Getting frustrating!!!!! As u all prob have experienced before.
Thx
Barry

I "run" #35 chain on all of my karts
...#40/41 chain is not usually necessary on light karts with small(er) tires

The only vehicle that I have #40 chain & sprockets on is my El Moto (electric motorcycle)
...but, it has big wheels & an 8,000W motor

So, I'd just go with #35 chain & sprockets

Sprocket size/tooth count is more "personal preference" :cheers2:
...72T to go faster :auto:
...or 80T for more torque :2guns:
