So I was sitting in the garage today, sippin' some bourbon, and looking at my american express, with predator mounted and had a thought... :idea2:

What if i scrapped the engine and strapped up 6 horses and a pony?

I feel like Id gain loads of torque, but the top end would suffer. Braking might also be an issue, as well as all the crap I would have to ride through... fenders or mud flaps would be a must.

In a drag I may gain an advantage from the added length. But Im not sure how long it would take to reach my peak speed. I guess I would always be at a constant 6 and 1/2 horses though.

I feel the best part would be the faces of friends and neighbors. Speechless comes to mind, mostly because I dont know what i would say if I saw something like this. And that, to me, would be... priceless.

If you took your six horses and a pony, and zapped them all with a cattle prod, not only would you have massive instant torque, you would be at top speed so fast, it would take about 2 hours for you to pick your azz up off the ground and catch them.

I think you'd be better off sacrificing that extra half horse and go for higher top end. Those short little legs will getcha every time.

A typical horse can gallop 25-30 mph, and reach said speed in about 4 strides. The weight of your kart for a team of 6 would be unnoticeable, so you'd top out in the first 40-50 feet.

Thoroughbreds and quarterhorses can gallop 40-45 mph, and can typically reach top speed in 3 strides off a good break. Again, for 6, they wouldn't even notice your kart back there.

Now here is where it gets fun. Your typical champion grade Colt costs in the range of 10 million dollars. So 60 million dollars on horses, another million each to train them for a year, a million each for medical expenses, figure 5 million for stables, acreage, trailers, a truck, and tack, plus 100 bucks for a rolling kart chassis off Craigslist.

So... $77,000,100 for a kart that would narrowly beat a decently modded rotaderp with a torque converter in the quarter mile.

Or you could buy a used top fuel dragster that will run the quarter mile in 4 seconds, maintain it, fuel it, pay a pit crew, build a shop to store and work on it, and buy a truck to transport it and come out about 75million dollars cheaper than the horses.

I feel like an idea of this magnitude needs craigslist written all over it.

I think the 6.5 cheapest horses you can find on craigslist would be plenty. Maybe 6 ok horses and one with a limp? Let them eat whatever grass they can find in the front and back yard.

On the weekends tie them all to the kart, zap them with bbqjoes cattle prod, which is genius, and pray someone is still holding my beer when i get back.
