I bought a honda xl70 1974 off cl for $40 with a 5hp briggs, 20in by 10in tractor tires, and a max torque 3/4 35 chain clutch. I bought the motor I will use for it for $40. Powerwasher had a bad pump. 5.5hp briggs intec. Runs good. The bike was striped and dident come with a motor, but has good tires and brakes. I ordered all the parts from bmi carts. It will have a 30 series tc, with the gear ratio it will top out a 35mph. I ordered a comet steel backplate with cover, js, bearing, ect. Then a 8 tooth sprocket , and chain. Once the parts come (should be soon, BMI is in Ohio and so am I) Ill mock everything up and start welding. Many updates to come.

There is mega room in that frame. Line the engine PTO up with the swing arm pivit when you mock it up.

I did alotof these bikes. Somthing is telling the tank is not original. It looks like an honda elsinore aluminum tank. Notice the gap from tank to seat.

Regardless great deal and cool project. You may want to take a look at how much those tanks are going for on Ebay. I sold those for good money before. You got the right one they can fetch over $300 easy. Way over in some cases. Is your steel or the aluminum? Hard to tell?

Its steel, a guy at OMF said its off a XR75 KO.The problem is some not so bright person ripped out the fuel petcock and there a a torn hole is the tank, I haft to weld a plate in there to hole fuel. And there is a big dent in the tank.
