Is it going on a kart? Then don't bother, you will be wasting your time.
The only wire you really need is the kill switch. See the spade connector on the ignition coil? Connect a wire to that, and connect the other end to a switch. If it is going on a kart, have a switch near the driver. Then connect the other terminal on the switch to an earthing point. Anything that is metal.

'most' wires will be fine, there is a very low current going through the wire, but aim for a similar thickness to stock- thin wires snap, leaving you with no kill switch.

You can connect the wire back to the engine but that is not needed because the engine is earthed through the frame, so if you just connect it to some metal on the frame with a wire from the switch and a little bolt holding it to the frame, that will be fine.

i couldn't find a switch so i just connected a wire from the mag to the engine just to see if it has spark, because i wanted to get it running before i mounted it to the engine. There is no blue light going to the plug did i do something wrong?

You've got the concept backwards- when that wire is grounded to the engine, you will have NO spark. Leaving the wire OFF will allow the engine to run.

The key is a short, square metal bar (perhaps 3/4" long) that resides in between the flywheel and crankshaft. Both the 'wheel and the shaft have slots (keyways) machined in the mating surfaces. The key sits in these slots and indexes the 'wheel to the shaft.
