I have a Honda GX 240 that I aquired in a trade. Its new without exhaust, carb., fuel tank.
I have installed a new carb. that also came with it but not on it. I installed the carb. & it fires right up with the choke on but it wants to die with the choke off unless I keep it going.
I took the carb. apart & gave it a good cleaning. Not that it neede it, it was spotless. So I know its not a clogged jet.
The governor not hooked up. Could this be the problem?
Thanks,
Rich

Get either a stock air filter or an aftermarket free flowing filter. With a stock filter I expect it would run fine, with an aftermarket filter you will probably need to up the jet size a few.

The symtoms point towards a lean condition. Running no air filter allows more air to enter the engine, skewing the air fuel ratio.

Thanks,
I was wanting to order a "stage 1" kit for it that comes with a bigger jet & cone filter. Ironically I was just waiting to get it running good first.
Have you heard much good or bad about NR racing? Or do you have any suggestions for a good supplier?

Yeah, but its a little hard to set when it won't stay running.
If I hold it @ WOT or part throttle its the same thing; runs great for 5-10 sec. then bogs out if I don't work the throttle.
It also doesn't want to restart easily afterwards like it's flooded.
