So just bought the 420cc predator and comet 40 TC
Question is does it need a Sprocket like the yerf dog 3203 with a chain to get it moving
or will it run fine without one?

I am not too sure what you mean. The TC will have a sprocket on it that a chain will run on to a sprocket on your axle

the guy doesn't want to listen. lol. he's got some predetermined notion of how he's gonna do things.

seriously dude, return the predator and comet 40, and fix the motor. it'll be cheaper, and will have WAY more horsepower - which equals WAY more fun! predator 420cc only has 13-ish horsepower, and can only go up to 3600 RPMs (stock). the 250cc 2-stroke oddy motor has 18hp or so, and can rev up to like 8000 RPMs (which means higher top speed!).

post some pics, and describe in detail what's wrong with the motor! :)

to answer your question: your question is too vague. bigger is always better, but a 420cc predator motor is NOT better than a 250cc odyssey motor. ebay doesn't have the parts you need? it's almost like you're ignoring our suggestions, because you're not letting us know what the results of our suggestions were.

give us details. what have you done? missing everything? like EVERYTHING? or missing parts of the starter? tooooo vague!!!! be specific. speak clearly. use punctuation. lol.

Do you know how much a rolling FL250 is around here? Any where from $500 to $1500ish or more depending on its shape. And with NO motor.... Do NOT cut up or alter that thing in ANY way....What you have is what we are all trying to build! Its hard to get any better than an Oddy! Please, take your time and fix it, repair it correctly. You will thank me later. Its a valuable machine, and one tough son of #@%(-!'"#...... LoL They are FAST , can jump with a 4 foot of air ALL day, and LOADS OF FUN! I rolled one once a few times down a hill. After sitting for a couple minutes,it fired back up and i was on my way un hurt. And best part is is its a HONDA...... Japanese or not, Honda is my choice 100% for any atv or street bike....

They're not too expensive in germany obviously (ebay #231008096186 ; fully working condition 616 €) now I wish I had at least tried to get it.

Post some pics..... Cant get reliable help if we don't know exactly what you got. It makes it easier. There are parts for that thing all over the internet. Im trying to barter for an FL250 right now.... they're awesome. ...And to answer your question, yes, it should be able to run with no pull start cover. Wait, what? What cover? Do you mean the whole pull start part is missing? If so, yes it will run that way, if you are using the starter.

Fix the original engine. You'll be much happier. A $400 rebuild now will have you running for 20 more years. Better performance than a predator to. It can be daunting looking at an odyssey project. It's a labor of love but in the end you've got honda quality.if you stick with the 250 parts are cheap on eBay. Just have to wait for them to turn up. Lots of cool rare old racing parts.

The spark plug goes to the coil

It will be a little box or cylinder mounted to the engine or mounted mere it

The spark plug lead should be a big thick one
Usually built into the coil

It may be best to take a load of pics and post them up
Show us all the parts u have
Also show us the engine from a few different sides
Lastly a few pics of the whole progect

Frame etc

The options for those goki kits were to run a plat over the top to cover the electric starter or to mount the pull starter on top of the electric kit.

the plate is available if you don't have the pull starter parts. (they are kind of expensive if you don't have them if you do then just put them back on)
I picked up 4 of these fl250s in various running conditions and am trying to get them back and going. If you do decide to scrap the engine and starter I would buy it off you. Here is a link to the guy I have got a lot of parts from so far and he has the plate you can bolt on to cover it up to keep the dirt and stuff out.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/oddatv1

for a picture of how it should be and how it should hook up check out the following
http://www.pilotodyssey.com/goki.htm

Tonight I tore into my second of the 4 and have to rebuild the engine it has very little compression and then needs to be rebuilt if you have some compression then you just need to connect the starter stuff back up.
Good luck.
