i have a go kart with a 6.5hp chonda [chonda=Chinese HONDA] engine. i also have a remote control petrol car which runs on fuel mostly made from alcohol, methanol and nitromethane. i've though about filling up go kart with my rc car fuel. what do u think it would do ?? :D
note: 2.5L of rc car fuel cost's $20 !!
note: you can buy fuel with 5%, 10% or 15% nitro content

ummm. if you put that in there it wont do ****. in fact the motor will run worse. because all your doing is puting a higher octane fuel in. if you had a higher compression in it (like 20:1) you could use alcohol. but thats alot of work for something pointless

I actually tried my 20% nitro R/C engine fuel on a weedwhacker engine once and I couldn't keep the RPM's to stay low, even with the carb fully closed. I had to practically suffocate the thing to get it to slow down. Not only that but the carb got all gummed up and I had to take it completely apart to clean it. It's probably best you don't try it on your working engine.

i highly dont believe that. the type of fuel in an engine dosent make a difference. you can go put jet fuel in your car and it will just run worse.

but yes it will mess up your carb if you try

R/C car engines = 2 cycle. Weedwhacker engine = 2 cycle... A .15 R/C engine has a tiny throttle that's about 1/2mm open when idling and maybe 5 when fully open. Trust me, that weedwhacker engine sounded like the throttle was wide open when it wasn't. I would take a vid of it but having to clean the carb sucks. R/C fuel leaves thick oily stuff.

Yes I do! The shaft on the motor goes round and round...round and round...round and round...

Hey, I just go by experimentation. Theory might say one thing, but actual physical evidence is hard to deny.

i tried it with with my 2hp bAs on my first mini bike made me go alot faster it had a simple carb i had to put it on half choke and open the mixture screw all the way it dose work. i tried it on my choper and it didet do crap carb seting was to lean if you want power just do some porting and at the price the fule is it would be cheaper to get a bigger engin

jet fule is a high octane with means you get more mpg not always power

Heh, i dont know about the whole nitromethane thing, but you CAN run the engine on methonal(alcohol). In order for the engine to run properly, you will need to use a larger jet in the carb. Since these are honda clones, you should be able to use a honda jet. You will have to find out what size it comes with, then obtain a few larger jets, and try them out until you get the best running conditions. Switching to methonal gives power gains over regular gas, without doing anything esle to the motor. Will the honda clone engine survive the added power? lol who knows..

The octane rating is a measure of the autoignition resistance of gasoline (petrol) and other fuels used in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. You can use a higher octane fuel in a low compression ratio motor but not the other way round. If you do the motor would knock.

you people are dee dee dee...

Oh great, we got a Mencia follower...

So Pete, is it to my understanding then that the higher the rating the less likely it will ignite? Or is it the other way around?

higher octane = higher resistance to autoiginition BUT... if your engine dosnt need a higher octane its better not to use it because it will not burn as fully. (if that makes sense)
