Found a local deal on a running Honda 390. $150.
Should I?
Manco vortex would be the platform. Figure some carb jetting, air filter, timing, and an exhaust upgrade would make it rather beastly.
Ideas?

150$ Isn't bad if it were me I would wait for a better deal, but I don't know your area. if deals like this are not abundant, I would take it

This is about half the going price for a gx390, if you can find one within a 3 hr drive.

Picked it up. Man, it PURRS. I love hondas. first pull fire up, smooth running. Came as a dewalt pressure washer.
going to have to research carb and exhaust for this thing.

Buy a cheap 30 series and gear the kart right. You won't fry belts unless kart is way to heavy and geared to high.

My 30 series doesn't struggle to keep up with my 13hp unless I'm chasing my dirtbike friends on atv trail for an hour straight. Even then, it's not burning... Just smells a bit🙂

40 series are great but also heavier and way more expensive.
