a store bought kart, or manufactured kart doesn't qualify as homemade, even if it's been heavily modified - it's still a store bought kart, that was modified (like a Manco Dingo that you hacked the front and back off to throw on suspension). salvaging parts from a store bought kart to build your own is acceptable to be considered homemade, as long as you didn't use the basic structure of the original kart. IMO.

More importantly, why does it matter? Do whatever you like, no?

For what it's worth, I would look directly to the frame for the answer. If it's something you (or another individual, not a business) fabricated, it's homebuilt.
