Hi there. I'm pretty new to the forums.
I started a Thread on restoring an old Chinese buggy that I bought for 150$. I think I'm just going to salvage parts off of it though for now. Its alot of work and I don't even know if the brake calipers work a long with the master cilyndar. Also having to refrabricate the engine mount and get a whole new engine. I was starting to look at more then I could comfortably afford.
So the search on craigslist continued....
I just found a sweet mini frame go kart, came with a almost brand new 212 predator engine, four good tires (slightly bald )
, steering column in tact.
I drove all the way over there and managed to get the guy down from 250$ to 150$. He said it keeps losing its chain, I noticed on the right rear axle it was a bit bent.
So I drove it back home and loosened the engine mount, to confirm that it was the right rear axle bent, and it was. I bent it back it was/is almost perfectly straight. (considering redoing the entire rear end, or maybe a swap with the rear end on of my chinese buggy.)
Started it up and messed around with the throttle cable, got that working. They messed around with the tension on the throttle(directly on the engine). So I took a spring bent it in and put it in place. Worked great at first, minus not have brakes
but then it started dieing out.
Eventually, the clutch would just seem to auto engage when I pull started it, and then it would make a kinda like grinding/groaning sound and die shortly after. Im thinking the problem is either with the axle being bent(check picture). Or my mickey mouse tension spring on the throttle.
After having two hours of sleep last night. I decided I'd work on it later. But I figured I'd post it up here for you guys to check out!
