Not sure if any one does this before but its the cheapest that works for a axle mount bearing.

-2 bearings($1.59 ea. @ Axman Surplus Hardware)
-shortest pipe you could find. (about $1.79 @ home depot)

x2 if you want two bearings. No way I'm paying $19.99 for each bearing at Northern Tool.
(you might want to angle grind the pipe threads to flat it a little for welding to a frame)

spot weld to hold in place and you got yourself a bearing. Works pretty good on my homemade go kart I'm making. Just to be safe I wouldn't go insane on these bearings(racing go karts, mini bikes, etc). I use for my homemade atv/kart that does about under 20mph.

My set up is for 5/8 axle.

I dont take my atv/kart off road so I should be ok. Just cruising around the neighborhood trails.

What is this setup used for? Axle? Jack shaft? Swingarm?

Cool idea for the right application I quess. Those bearings look cheap from the pics. Like a garage door bearing or something.

Looks good, but personally I would spend $20 for two pillow blocks. Easy to mount, easy to replace.

I agree, Although I like to save money but I think in this case the OP will be going back to these bearings and redoing them.

LOL I say this without knowing what he is using them on. But yah I agree with you. When you consider the long run that $20 will be well $20 well spent.

OP, You said this was a ATV? Post some pics of your ride friend.

Like your bearing setup or not. Thanks for posting your idea. Thats what DIY is all about. I learned something for sure.

What i'm building is basically a rectangular steel frame with a motor and 4 wheel. Closest thing to is an atv. Still more like a go kart. Just that driver sits on top like an atv. It'll be done in few days. I'll post pics in the gallery section when done.

Well cheap is a good thing, its also a bad thing.
Im just on HF site now and they are about 8.99 for the 1" bore types.
Where did you get $20 a bearing from?
