I thought that up on my 2.5 hr drive home from grandma's as I was pondering this thread driving down the highway. I thought it was too funny to not say. I was chuckling to myself in the car. I'll go give you a thanks for for the credit.

So did I. That doesnt look all that safe. Maybe the lanes in Aus are wider? The most trailers we can have hooked up here is 2, and thats only in some states.

thats sounds a bit thick (no offence)

we are useing trucks less powerfull than what u guys are useing

the lanes are not as wide actually and these will often drive on dirt roads of only one lane makes for intresting passing

the first page of google is deseptive most are only 3 trailers it is only around the mining camps that use more

these thing have a surprizeingly small turing circle (about that of a goose neck caravan )

most counrty towns will alow these thought the cenrtre of town

I was looking at one in the trucking mag for the mines, it had 5 or so trailers and two of them had motors like the first rig, was pretty cool.

Road trains can't be used in the city, is that right fowler?

Yea thats what I noticed when I was in Australia on school camp. We went down from Darwin all over the place. lol

Its not like we saw them driving down the main road in Sydney or Melbourne. We only saw them driving down open road in the middle of nowhere, really.

Its quite funny sitting in a bus doing 110km/h and a truck with 2-3 trailers goes flying past full of cattle. Makes for a nervous few seconds.

yes they are not allowed in many citys

most citys build sepecial bypass routes to get the trucks to the ports

and yes the truckies are a differant race they are crazy

nothing stops them the trucks are limited to 100kph (60mph) but iv found few trucks that aint disabled to go 140

its pretty funny watching them go across the nullabour as they dont eaven slow down for wildlife they just go striaght though

this sounds evil but to stop a 100tonne truck in 1km isnt realistic so they dont bother

Yea, some trucks here are limited to 90km/h, it takes 10 us 10 minutes to plug in a computer and raise that by 20km/h.

100 ton?? Thats a fair load. Thats almost 3x the legal weight allowed on our roads. lol
